John is a co-founder of Areae with Raph Koster.

John Donham started working on massively multiplayer games 14 years ago as a programmer and designer for GemStone III. He produced multiple titles for Simutronics including DragonRealms. In 2000 he joined Sony Online Entertainment as the senior producer of Star Wars Galaxies.

From 2004 until December 2006, John was Vice President of Development for SOE San Diego which shipped 15 titles while he was studio head, including EverQuest 2, Untold Legends, a dozen expansions for the live products: EQ, EQ2, and PlanetSide, multiple PSP titles, and the PS3 launch title Dark Kingdom.
