Dr. John P. Anderton has worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention since 1991. He has orchestrated national communications campaigns promoting childhood immunization, stomach ulcer treatment, and HIV testing and prevention; and served as lead in crisis communications response during the Washington DC anthrax attacks of 2001 and during the influenza vaccine shortage of 2003. Andertons PhD is in Health Promotion and Behavior and his Masters Degree is in Public and Urban Administration, with emphasis in theories of social influence and persuasion. Anderton launched the CDC space in Second Life through avatar Hygeia Philo in July, 2006.
