Joakim is a software development professional, who has been developing applications for different kinds of platforms for almost 15 years. In the mid 90s, Joakim worked on entertainment multimedia CD-ROM applications, creating his first commercial CD-ROM product in 1994, and founding his first company in 1996 for creating multimedia software. After the downfall of the CD-ROM era, it wasnt until 2001 that Joakim got another chance to work with new media products. Joakim went to work for Orchimedia Ltd, to produce WAP and SMS games. This was prior to the rise of Java mobile games and from this work Joakim gathered some early experience for working in the mobile games industry. From 2002 to 2005, Joakim worked in several ICT companies, focusing on server side application development. Joakim gathered beneficial knowledge from working with server side application, and that knowledge is now used for developing community software products for Ironstar Helsinki. Joakim had his heart in the entertainment software business, and wanted to create something that had not yet been realised in the mobile games market. During the summer of 2005, Joakim Achrn made the decision to found Ironstar Helsinki. He had the desire to develop new kinds of mobile gaming community applications. The market of mobile entertainment was missing a successful virtual world provider. The concept of Pocket Pal was based upon massively multiplayer games, online social services, traditional mobile phone games and virtual worlds.
